2026 BGC TACKLE FOOTBALL PROGRAM UPDATE

We wanted to share an important update regarding our football programming that will begin this fall 2026.

After careful consideration & extended discussions, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse has made the difficult decision to discontinue our 5^th & 6^th grade tackle football program moving forward.

Please know this decision was not made lightly, but over the past several seasons our participation numbers continue to decline, making it increasingly difficult to provide the competitive, developmental & enjoyable experience that our athletes deserve. In addition, the rising costs associated with maintaining equipment, replacing safety gear & operating the program have continued to increase, making it more challenging to offer a sustainable, safe & quality tackle football program.

We understand this news may be disappointing to many families. We are incredibly grateful to the athletes, parents, coaches, volunteers & supporters who have been part of our tackle football program over the years. Your commitment & passion have helped create countless memories along with opportunities for young athletes to learn teamwork, perseverance & sportsmanship.

While this chapter is coming to a close, we remain committed to providing high-quality football opportunities for youth in our community. Our flag football program is available for all Kindergarten - 6^th grade age levels that continues to grow each year which we are excited to focus our efforts on expanding & enhancing this season. We look forward to creating even more opportunities for players to develop their skills, build confidence, stay active & enjoy the sport of football in a fun, safe, all-inclusive environment.
