Ginny Iverson

Ginny was born November 27th, 1945 on a farm in Livingston Township, Minnesota. The family moved to La Crosse in 1952 where Ginny, brother Richard, and sister Kristine attended school. Ginny attended University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, majoring in Medical Technology.

In January 1968, Ginny Lommen and Don Iverson were married. That year, they traveled to Florida, as Don qualified for the PGA golf tour. Following two years of active duty in the army, Don returned to the PGA tour in June of 1970. This started ten years of full time travel for Ginny and Don on the PGA Golf tour throughout the United States. In 1979, after the birth of their second daughter, Merritt, the family moved back to La Crosse so Don could pursue a career in business.

Ginny’s relationship with local charities include the Chileda Women’s Board, a fund-raising group committed to educational programming and equipment to the children of Chileda. She is also active in the New Horizons Women’s Shelter, the YWCA, church activities, as well as assisting at Emerson Elementary School. In recognition of her passion for local charities, Ginny received the YWCA Tribute to Outstanding Women Award in 1998.

Her involvement with the Club began when her daughter, Merritt, became interested in various activities offered by the Club. That initial involvement developed into a sincere interest in the role of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club in the community.

She became the first female Board President of the Club, serving from 1996 to 1997. She also received the Boys and Girls Club Backer of the Year Award in 1997. Ginny continues her involvement today with the Club, from assisting with special events to numerous committee assignments. Ginny and Don have two daughters, Corie and Merritt.
