Michael J. McArdle was born on May 27^th, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to James E. and Charlotte McArdle. The third of six children, Mike relocated numerous times throughout his childhood due to his father’s career with the FBI. In 1961, his father was assigned to the La Crosse FBI Office.

After graduating from Aquinas High School in 1966, Mike attended UW-La Crosse obtaining both a Bachelor of Science degree in May 1970 and a Masters in Business Administration in December 1990.

In June 1969 he married Marianne Marcou.

In 1970, Mike began his employment with St. Francis Hospital’s Accounting Dept. In 1986, he relocated his family to Eau Claire when he became Chief Financial Officer at Luther Hospital. In 1988, he returned to La Crosse as Chief Financial Officer of Desmond’s Formal Wear.

Mike has always been an active participant in many civic and business organizations. He was a Director of Wisconsin’s Healthcare Financial Management Association from 1980 to 1987, serving as President, 1985 and 1986. In addition, he was a member of the American Hospital Association’s Management Systems Society, as well as member of the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s Council on Financing. Since 1992, he has been an elected board member for the School District of La Crosse.

Mike’s participation with the Boys & Girls Club began in 1980 when his children became actively involved with the Club on Avon Street. His involvement was expanded, as he became a member of the Board of Directors in 1988. For 12 years Mike took a leadership role as an active member on several committees and as Club Treasurer. In 1995, Mike was presented with the Distinguished Service Award for his years of service and contributions to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse.



Mike and Marianne have four children, Chris, Deb, Mike, and Kathy and five grandchildren, Ashley, Marissa, Amy, Megan, and Michael.
