Dr. Robert McMahon

Bob McMahon retired in 1983 from Gundersen Clinic after a 37 year career as an Internal Medicine Specialist. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and received his M.D. degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York.


Dr. McMahon practiced medicine in Cleveland, Ohio from 1946 to 1952 before coming to La Crosse. Prior to his position and Gundersen Clinic, he had been with the La Crosse Clinic and he had been the Director of Health Services at UW-L.


His involvement in the community has included memberships on the United Way Board of Directors, the La Crosse Housing Appeals Board, the Governor’s Health Planning Task Force, and an Advisor to the Medical Nursing Program at WWTI. He was a co-founder of the La Crosse Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in 1972 and in 1983 he received the UW-L Athletic Merit Award.

 

McMahon’s involvement with the Boys and Girls Club began in 1976 when he was elected to the Executive Board of Directors. He served as President of the Board in 1979 and 1980. He has received the Club’s Distinguished Service Award and the Treasurer’s Award.



Bob epitomizes a Boys and Girls Club friend in the truest sense of the word.
