R. Jerome Boge

Jerome Boge was born in the panhandle city of Amarillo, Texas January 19th, 1938. His family moved to Iowa and eventually settled in Wisconsin where Jerome graduated from Neillsville High School. He graduated from St. Norbert College with a B.S. Degree in 1963.

In 1982, Jerry received the distinguished alumnus in science award from his Alma Mater. He completed graduate work at the University of Minnesota in 1966 and stayed on as a Radiation Safety Officer and Faculty Member in the School of Public Health. He then joined the University of Wisconsin Medical School under a special grant project to improve the state of radiation treatment in hospitals throughout Wisconsin.

Upon completion of that project, he joined the Gundersen Clinic as their first Radiation Physicist in 1972. He left that position in 1989 to become Director of Radiation Oncology at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Jerry still calls La Crosse home as he has become a commuter.

Not long after joining the Gundersen Clinic, Jerome decided to look into auctioneering as a hobby. After doing a few household auctions, he decided to become a professional. He attended the Reisch School of Auctioneering in Mason City Iowa and started doing auctions, donating much of his services to charity. In 16 years he has conducted over 1,000 benefit auctions, raising over ½ million dollars for local agencies.

Despite his busy schedule, Jerome has found time to test his thespian skills, starring as Sir Thomas Moore in Community Theatre’s Production of “A Man For All Seasons” and as a priest in “Catch Me if You Can.”

Other community activities include being a Rotarian, a member of the Certified Auctioneers Institute, and a parishioner of Roncolli Newman Center. In 1984, he received the La Crosse Tribune Chamber of Commerce Good Citizen Award. He has served on the Boards on University of La Crosse Foundation and Western Wisconsin Regional arts. He is a current board member of the Boys’ & Girls’ Club and has been active in the building project as well as conducting the Annual Benefit Auction. The fees he receives from charity auctions goes to his favorite organization, The Boys’ & Girls’ Club.

Jerome is married to Patricia, Community Relations Coordinator at the La Crosse Public Library. He is father of three children: Thane, a senior at Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin, Justin a sophomore at University of Madison, and Blyth, a sophomore at Aquinas High School.
