Lyle Quillin

Lyle E. Quillin was born April 27th, 1940 in Marion, Iowa to Ed and Greta Quillin. He was the second of four children. After moving to La Crosse at a very young age, Lyle attended Aquinas High School. Throughout high school, Lyle worked at his father’s store, stocking shelves and bagging groceries.


After graduating from Aquinas High School in 1958, Lyle attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962. From 1962 to 1968, he was a member of the United States Army Reserve.


Lyle has always been an active member in many organizations and activities in the La Crosse area. He is a Past President of the La Crosse Jaycees, La Crosse Rotary-East and a former Chairman of the Western Wisconsin Private Industry Council. In 1983 the Shamrock Club named him “Irishman of the Year”.


Lyle served as Director of the Shelby Youth Baseball organization during the initial construction phase of the Hillview Fields complex, and was a Director of the Western Wisconsin Grocers Association, an officer in the Aquinas Booster Club, and has served on the Advisory Boards of the Gateway Area Council of Boys Scouts and the Salvation Army. In addition, he has served on various committees at St. Thomas More Parish.

 

Currently, Lyle serves as Vice-President of Quillins, Inc., which owns and operates supermarkets in the tristate area. He is a member of the board of directors of the State Bank of La Crosse, serves on the finance committee for the Aquinas schools, and is a member of the advisory board of the Franciscan Skemp School of Nurse Anesthesia.



Lyle and his wife, Sandy, have three children, Kelly, Tim, & Kris, and three grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha, and Nicholas.
