George Parke III

George Park III was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on July 22, 1950. He graduated from Richland Center High School in 1968. He lettered in Basketball and Track with honors including Captain, MVP, All Conference, and Honorable Mention All-State.

 

Following high school graduation, George worked in the Richland Foundry where his job consisted of shifting weights on freshly poured iron castings in 135 degree temperatures. After a summer of this work at only $1.60 per hour, George was ready to go to college and put basketball and foundry work behind him.


George attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse from 1968 to 1972 and graduated with honors with a double major in Economics and Political Science. He was honored by being on the Dean’s list seven out of eight semesters.


George attended Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa from 1972 to 1975. He returned to La Crosse in 1975 and became an associate attorney with V. Downing Edwards. In 1981, George co-founded the law firm which is now known as Park O’Flaherty, Ltd. The law firm has 14 lawyers and a total staff of 30, and is one of the largest law firms in western Wisconsin.


George was elected to the Board of Directors of Coulee State Bank in 1984 and has served as Chairman of the Board from 1989 to the present. He also served on the Board of Directors for the La Crosse Center from 1978 to 1990.


George is one of the owners of VSC Corporation which owns and operates the Village Shopping Center and Mormon Coulee Plaza, as well as other commercial and residential properties in La Crescent, Onalaska, and downtown La Crosse.


George served on the Executive Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club from 1990 to 1997 and continues to be a member of the Corporate Board. He has been actively involved in the Club’s auction, fundraising, and scholarship programs.


In 1998, George initiated what is now known as Jim’s Grocery Bag Fund to serve as an endowment providing groceries for the children of the Hamilton School. This endowment has been created to carry on the prior food drives that had been organized by Attorney James Gokey.



George is married to Sabrina Bosshard and has three children, George IV, who lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, Ross, a senior at Logan High School, and Sarah who is a junior at Logan. All three children have been active club members.
