Chris J. Weiss

Chris J. Weiss was born on December 18th, 1949, in La Crosse, WI. A lifelong resident of La Crosse, Chris grew up on the north side and graduated from Logan High School in 1968. Chris continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he earned a degree in Business Administration in 1972. During, and for several years following his college days, Chris was employed as a Locomotive Engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad.

Ready for a new challenge and anxious to put his UW-L business degree to use, Chris along with his lifelong friend and business partner, Jeff Towner, formed the company Town and Country Construction in 1977 with initial working capital of $200.00. As Town and Country entered the 80’s, the company was renamed TCI General Contractor. Design/Build became the primary project delivery method used by TCI.

The nineties brought new opportunities and changes to TCI: commercial real estate development was added to the list of TCI services. TCI also greatly increased its in-house architectural and engineering staff to meet the growing demand for design/build project delivery. In 1995, TCI changed its name to TCI Architects/Engineers/Contractor, to better reflect the services offered. 1997 marks the 20th anniversary of TCI and the completion of hundreds of projects valued at over 250 million dollars. Over the years, Chris and Jeff have shared the success of TCI by committing their time, talent, and treasures to many local, charitable, and civic organizations.

Chris has been a longtime friend of the club beginning at age 16 when the Club opened in the old Auto-Lite Building. In 1984, Chris joined the Board of Directors and in 1986, was elected board president, serving a two year term. During his tenure, the Club built and occupied its current building on Clinton Street. As Club president, Chris was instrumental in organizing the Club’s first ever auction, which today is its largest fundraising event.

Chris currently serves on the Board of Directors of the UW-L Foundation, The Greater La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Coulee State Bank. He is the event chairman for the 3rd Annual TCI Tri-Quest, a community wide fundraising event created at TCI to help support charities in the La Crosse area. Chris contributes much of his success to the strong support that he receives from his family, especially from his wife, Beth. Chris and Beth have been married for 23 years and have two children, Maria, 18 and Casey, 12.
