Pat Sapio

Pat Sapio was brought to La Crosse in 1966 from New York City to become the first Executive Director of the Boys Club of La Crosse. He was born and raised in New York City where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Hunter College. Later, Pat received his Master Degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio.

 

Pat’s social work career began with the New York State Mental Hygiene Department. From there, he became the Director of Group Work with the Madison Square Boys Club in New York City before becoming the Child Care Director for the New York Children’s Village.

 

Pat served as Director of the Boys Club of La Crosse from 1966 until 1971. Through his efforts during those early years, he is credited with planting the seed for a successful club in La Crosse. Sapio is currently an assistant professor in the Social Work Department at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and past member of the Kiwanis and Elks Clubs. His interest in youth continues as he is treasurer of Coulee Youth Services.



Pat and his wife, Judy, have 6 children. Pat’s interests include golf, tennis, skiing, and people
