Higher Education Scholarships
Youth of the Year:
- Youth of the Year is an honor that recognizes current or previous BGC participants who are positive role models and display leadership qualities. They are selected to represent the Club and be a spokesperson at various special events!
- Selected Youth of the Year will be prioritized for our Higher Education Scholarships (valued at $500 to full-tuition)
- Deadline: November 21st, 2025


Barb & Bud Hammes Rotary Scholarship
- This scholarship is valued at $10,000 for up to four school years, thanks to the generosity of Barb & Bud Hammes.
- Applicants MUST attend a local college (Western, Viterbo University, or UW-La Crosse)

Higher Education Scholarships:
- Our Higher Education Scholarship Program offers a range of awards (from $500 to full tuition) to support high school seniors who are currently or previously involved with the Boys & Girls Club. These scholarships are made possible by generous community donors.
- Applicants MUST be a high school senior attending a 2 or 4 year post-secondary education

Rotary Scholarship Criteria
- The recipient should demonstrate a financial need for this scholarship per academic year with the knowledge that it will only provide support if attending a local college.
- The recipient must have a current or past affiliation with the Boys & Girls Clubs for 3+ years.
- The recipient must be a graduating senior with a 2.0 GPA or higher and demonstrate the ability to succeed in higher education.
- The recipient should have demonstrated leadership qualities, both as a Boys & Girls Club member and as a high school student.
- The recipient should have made notable contributions to school, family and community.
- The recipient may need to attend and speak at various BGC/Rotary events throughout the year.
- The recipient must be willing to participate in a local Rotary mentoring program and develop on-going relationship with that Rotary Club.
- The recipient must submit a FAFSA annually.
- The recipient must participate in mentoring/academic success programs through college they attend and agree to a BGC staff to communicate with academic advisor to monitor progress.
- The recipient must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher per year at the school they attend and be a full-time student.
- The recipient must complete any application requirements for this scholarship that are established by the BGC.
General Higher Education Scholarship Criteria
- The recipient should demonstrate a financial need for this scholarship with the intent of helping them attend a college, university, or technical school, who might not otherwise be able to do so.
- The recipient must have a current or past affiliation with the Boys & Girls Clubs.
- The recipient must have an average grade point and demonstrate the ability to succeed in higher education.
- The recipient should have demonstrated leadership qualities, both as a BGC member and as a high school student.
- The recipient should have made a notable contribution to school, family and the community.
- Selected scholarship recipients may be required to attend a BGC recognition event.
