Scott Mihalovic

Scott Mihalovic was born in La Crosse and was part of the 1977 graduating class at Central High School. After high school, Scott attended UW-La Crosse where he earned a teaching degree in 1982. During his time at UW-La Crosse, Scott played baseball and earned WIAC All-Conference honors as a second baseman. Upon graduating, he taught Physical Education for four years before becoming a School Administrator.

After having a taste of school administration in a substitute role, Scott attended Winona State University and earned a Master of Arts in Education in 1987. Scott went on to spend a total of 28 years as a school administrator, 10 of those years as a high school Associate Principal and 18 years serving as a high school Principal. Scott’s hard work and dedication to the public school system earned his staff recognition that was much deserving including twice being named as US News and World Reports Top 100 High Schools in the country. In 2002, Logan High School was also selected to host President George Bush as a result of being recognized as one of the highest achieving schools located in a high poverty area. Because of those accomplishments and his steady leadership during times of challenge and opportunity, Scott was named La Crosse Tribune’s Person of the Year in 2005.

Scott has spent his career working with and for kids, so becoming a member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse’s Board of Directors was a perfect fit. In 1991, Scott joined the Board and was president in 2009-2011. Scott is “proud of the many community collaborations and loves the fact that our Club continues to grow and serve more and more students each and every year, especially those who need us most!”

Today, Scott has retired after 32 years in public education and now works for Viterbo University as a Wisconsin Educational Leadership Specialist. He and his wife, Polly, are enjoying spending time with their children, Mindy (Matt) and Mareah (Ben) and their newest granddaughter, Lily.
