Ed Kondracki

Ed Kondracki is a graduate of Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Law studies. He also has a Diploma in Police Administration from Northwestern University and an Associate Degree in Police Science from MATC.


Kondracki served the Milwaukee Police Department for 20 years. He was a Police Sergeant, shift commander, Lieutenant of Police in the Research and Development Bureau, Captain of Police, and Deputy Inspector of Police. In 1989, he was named Inspector of Police.


Ed moved to La Crosse in 1993 to become the Chief of Police for the City of La Crosse. In addition to heading a 116 member police agency, he has developed and implemented many new community programs. These programs have led to recognition by the Wisconsin Attorney General as the most innovative program in law enforcement on 3 separate occasions. He also led the agency to become the first accredited police department of its size in the state.



Ed has compiled a long list of professional and civic involvement, including: YMCA Board of Directors, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Wisconsin Chiefs of Police, Rotary Paul Harris Policing Institute, St Francis Hospital community board, and Viterbo University President’s Advisory Board.
